The Heirs of Solomon

Though the Heirs may keep the Jealous God's covenant, they are far from observant Jews. King Solomon was a powerful spellbinder who ruled ancient Israel nearly one thousand years before Christ. He knew his deity's true name and all of his rituals; his temple housed the Ark of the Covenant.

Some time after Solomon's death, his temple was destroyed. Before this, however, Solomon's Heirs looted the temple and slipped away with its many secrets. They used their command of the Jealous God's spells and angels to become wealthy men and powerful sorcerers during the age of Byzantium. When the muslims washed over the Middle East like a flood, the Heirs went underground.

Now, they are few in number, but stronger than ever. They use their power and wealth to pursue the fulfillment of various prophesies, like regaining the Holy Land and rebuilding the Temple of Solomon. These efforts run the gamut from political activism to paramilitary fanaticism.

They also engage in their own version of the Wild Hunt, though with far less zeal than in previous centuries. Their primary concern is making sure that their god's magic does not fall into the hands of "outsiders," especially those of other Judeo-Christian religions. They have occasionally targeted Christian and Islamic relics created by other Great Spirits, as well. Their greed is almost without limit.
