The Malign 8-Ball

No one knows if this talisman was created by some malevolent Great Spirit or just a cruel twist of Arisen fate. Two things are known: 1) it's a "magic" 8-Ball that actually works, and 2) horrible things befall anyone who uses it.

Accounts are always sketchy, but the Malign 8-Ball seems to find its way into a mundane's hands through innocent coincidence. Eventually, the new owner realizes that the 8-Ball's replies to their questions are far more lucid & specific than normal. What purposes they turn this to, if any, are inconsequential.

The 8-Ball attracts hostile magical beings in droves. It's owner soon finds themselves up to their proverbial neck in the magical world, whether they wish it or not. In most cases, the story ends in death or insanity. Then, the Malign 8-Ball makes a quiet exit.

Overpower Effects

• Various haunting phenomena accompany the 8-Ball's use: levitating objects, cold spots, phantasmal apparitions, etc.
• The user experiences a disorienting vision that addresses their question. When they wake up, minutes or hours may have elapsed.
